How We Install Forcrete
The Forcrete System - Layer by Layer
A multi-stage, quality-controlled installation process. Every Forcrete project we complete in London and Surrey follows this rigorous methodology — ensuring a waterproof, crack-free, and exceptionally durable result.
Substrate Assessment & Preparation
We survey the existing surfaces at your London or Surrey property, checking moisture content (must be ≤5%), structural stability, and substrate type. Surfaces are cleaned, repaired, sanded, or ground as needed to create the perfect base.
Specialist Priming
We apply Forcrete Mono-Grip (for porous substrates) or Forprime-DPM epoxy primer (for non-porous surfaces and floors). DPM is sand-blinded with kiln-dried sand for a superior mechanical key. Both primers are water-based and low-VOC.
Mesh Reinforcement & Base Coats
fibreglass mesh reinforcement and self-adhesive corner tape are embedded within the first Monostone base coat — preventing cracking and providing structural integrity. Additional base coats build thickness and create a perfectly level surface.
Micro-Quartz Decorative Coats
Forcrete Micro-Quartz is hand-trowelled in your chosen colour and texture — Smooth, Medium, or Coarse. Each layer is 0.4–0.5mm thick, building the final aesthetic with depth, movement, and the signature Forcrete mineral-rich character.
Forshield Sealing & Protection
Multiple coats of Forshield-2KWB — a two-component, water-based polyurethane sealer — are applied via microfibre roller. This provides additional stain resistance and a satin-matt finish, complementing the already-waterproof Forcrete system beneath.
Typical installation timeline: 4–7 working days depending on system type and project size.

Certified Forcrete installations typically range between £150 and £300 per square metre. The cost varies based on several parameters: the total size of the area, the nature and stability of the existing substrate (e.g. over tiles vs. newly levelled screed), the number of corners or complex details, and whether the system requires structural fibreglass mesh reinforcement (mandatory for floors and wet rooms). Smaller spaces (under 10m²) are subject to a minimum project fee to cover the fixed labour, preparation, and drying cycles of a 5-to-7 day process. We provide fully itemised quotations following a physical site survey.
Forcrete operates a strict professional-only model and does not sell to retail consumers or unaccredited contractors. Because Forcrete is an advanced multi-component hybrid chemical system, successful application requires thorough knowledge of substrate preparation, resin mixing, and trowel dynamics. To become certified, applicators must complete rigorous practical training at the Seamless Surface Academy (SSA). Using an uncertified contractor voids the manufacturer's warranty. Coatable is a fully certified applicator, ensuring your installation is completed in strict accordance with technical protocols.
A standard Forcrete installation takes between 5 and 7 working days, as each layer (primer, mesh, bases, decorative coats, and sealer) must dry and cure under controlled humidity. You can walk on the floor in clean socks 24 hours after the final coat of Forshield sealer has been applied. Light foot traffic is permitted after 48 hours. The surface achieves its full compressive strength and chemical resistance (resistance to household cleaners and water exposure) after 7 days of curing.
Yes. Forcrete possesses exceptional adhesion properties (>2 N/mm² bond strength) and can overlay existing tiles, marble, terrazzo, screeds, cement boards, and plywood. This eliminates the dust, costs, and structural risks of demolition in period properties. We first degrease the tiles, apply Forprime-DPM epoxy primer blinded with silica sand to create a perfect mechanical key, and embed fibreglass mesh inside our Monostone base to prevent any tile grout lines or movement joints from telegraphing. The total thickness added is only 3.5mm–4mm.
Traditional microcements rely entirely on a very thin, topcoat polyurethane sealer for their water resistance. If that sealer gets scratched, wears down over time, or suffers a micro-fissure, water will penetrate into the cement base, causing dark water stains, mould growth, and eventually delamination of the surface. Forcrete uses a proprietary resin-cement hybrid chemistry that is 100% waterproof in every single layer (primers, bases, and finish coats) before any sealers are applied. This guarantees that even if the surface coat is damaged, the installation remains fully waterproof, making it the most robust microcement choice for wet rooms, showers, and kitchens.
